  • Notes: Last seen on the road in 2022, it looks like a touring production is set to begin in 2025, according to the show’s social media outlets. Whether it will be part of the 24/25 season or the 25/26 season remains to be seen.

Website | Show Page

  • Description: The Addams Family is a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family
  • Status: Confirmed (source)
  • Notes: The non-equity revival is currently being booked for full weeks, split weeks and single engagements in the 24/25 touring season.

Based on surveys sent out to patrons earlier this year, the following revivals are under consideration to return to touring. However, as most surveys were conducted back in early 2023, it is unknown as to whether any of these shows will materialize into tours in the 24/25 season. My confidence level, with 0 being low and 10 being high, is in parenthesis.

  • Aida (3)
  • Beauty and the Beast (2)
  • Kinky Boots (5)
  • Mary Poppins (3)
  • Matilda the Musical (4)
  • Newsies (3)
  • The Music Man (5)
  • The Secret Garden (4)
  • The Sound of Music (5)
  • Waitress (4)

Notes: Recently, Music Theatre International posted a notice that all productions of Beauty and the Beast will need to be performed by the end of March 2025. This indicates to me that a Broadway revival is in the works. So it might be too early for a touring production to occur in the 24/25 season, even if it was a pre-Broadway tour. Outside of that show, I very well could see Disney adding an additional tour to its current lineup, but which one might be a tossup.

Outside of the Disney productions, I think the most-likely shows to begin touring again in the 24/25 season are Kinky Boots and The Sound of MusicThe Secret Garden is still anticipating landing on Broadway, so perhaps a pre-Broadway tour might take place. And, bolstered by the recent theatrical success of the pro-shot, I could very well see Waitress getting a revival coming soon.

Returning Shows

Based on various factors, the following list showcases the shows that are currently touring that are projected to return in the 24/25 season. My confidence level, with 0 being low and 10 being high, is in parenthesis.

  • Aladdin (8)
  • Annie (7)
  • Beetlejuice (7)
  • Chicago (7)
  • Clue (7)
  • Come From Away (9)

  • Hamilton (10)
  • Jagged Little Pill (5)
  • Jesus Christ Superstar (6)
  • Les Misérables (9)
  • Mamma Mia! (9)
  • Mean Girls (7)
  • MJ the Musical (10)
  • Moulin Rouge! (10)
  • Mrs. Doubtfire (8)
  • On Your Feet! (5)

Notes: While there is still some uncertainty for a few shows, I do expect almost all of the current shows–especially those who are wrapping up their first year–to continue touring. One item worth noting is that Ain’t Too Proud, Hadestown, and Tina are expected to end their union tours and begin non-union tours. This will allow the shows to expand their reach to more secondary and tertiary markets.

Departing Shows

The following shows are expected to end their tours following the 23/24 season:

  • A Strange Loop
  • Just For Us
  • Little Women
  • The Kite Runner
