The information presented was collected from a variety of sources, including press releases, surveys and booking groups. Consult the log below for any changes made to this page or individual shows. As a general rule, however, a show will be removed from this page once it begins its tour, or if it does not begin touring after a certain period of time.

      • In February 2025, this show was among the offerings for surveyors to choose from in the pre-Tony Awards survey by Broadway Across America. The show was also among the offerings in the post-Tony Awards survey sent in June 2025.
      • In April 2025, the booking company The Booking Group began representing this show for future touring possibilities.
        The Broadway production is produced by the John Gore Organization, which also runs Broadway Across America, and the Nederlander Organization, both of which have connections to productions that tour.
      • On Tuesday, June 25, 2025, the show’s producers announced that it will close the Broadway production on July 13, 2025. No mention of a tour was announced at that time, which will diminish any possibility that the show will tour in the near future.
      • On Monday, September 15, 2025,  composer David Foster and actress Jasmine Amy Rogers recorded a video where David revealed that a tour was going to begin in 2026. No official announcement has been made as of yet, however.
      • On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, producers announced a 50-week North American tour that will begin in fall 2026 (more).

  • Notes: On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, the producers announced an international tour, including a North American tour that will begin in 2026. The tour is expected to include engagements in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
    (Pre-Announcement) In October 2024, four months before making its Broadway debut, the booking company The Booking Group began representing this show for future touring possibilities. 
    In February 2025, this show was among the offerings for surveyors to choose from in the pre-Tony Awards survey by Broadway Across America. 
    The Broadway production is produced by the John Gore Organization, which also runs Broadway Across America and the Independent Presenters Network, a consortium of 40 of the leading Broadway presenters, theaters and performing arts centers across the country.

  • Synopsis: Based on the Emmy Award-winning show. Josh and Melissa go backpacking in a last-ditch attempt to save their failing relationship, but instead get lost in the woods and end up trapped in Schmigadoon, a magical town that’s a classic Golden Age musical come to life.
  • Notes:
      • On August 7, 2025, the Booking Group added this show to their portfolio, with engagements available for full weeks. This show also appeared on the pre-Tony Awards survey from Broadway Across America, which was distributed in late-February 2025. This show was last seen at the Kennedy Center, but could make its way to Broadway in the 25/26 season, meaning the tour would start in the 27/28 season. An alternative scenario has this show executing a pre-Broadway tour to select locations.
      • On Tuesday, September 30, 2025, the show announced that it will be playing a limited run on Broadway starting in April 2026 and closing  in September 2026. This would mean that, if a tour does occur, it would most likely take place in the 27/28 season.

  • Synopsis: A small-town girl fresh out of college tries to navigate the waters of the high-powered fashion world, while surviving her impossibly demanding new boss. Elton John, Shaina Taub, Paul Rudnick, and Kate Wetherhead write the musical version of this blockbuster comedy.
  • Notes:
      • Stemming back to 2020, this show was found in the Broadway Across America’s annual patron survey as a Show in Development. It was featured on the subsequent surveys up to 2025. The show had a limited run in Chicago in 2022.
      • On January 21, 2026, The Booking Group added this show among its offerings for full-week engagements. If it does tour, it will most likely be a pre-Broadway tour of the current production playing in London.

  • Synopsis: Based on the cult classic 1987 film, this new musical features original music by The Rescues. After moving to a new town, two brothers discover that the area is a haven for a gang of teenage vampires.
  • Notes: On August 7, 2025, the Booking Group added this show to their portfolio, with engagements available for full weeks. This show also appeared on the pre-Tony Awards surveys from Broadway Across America in April 2024 and February 2025. This show is expected to begin performances on Broadway at the Palace Theatre, meaning the tour would start in the 27/28 season. An alternative scenario has this show executing a pre-Broadway tour to select locations.

  • Synopsis: A dark comedy about a miserable, suffocated Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. Unrequited yearning, alcoholism, and suppressed desires abound in a play that examines the forgotten life of Mrs. Lincoln, through the lens of comedian and playwright Cole Escola.
  • Notes:
      • In January 2025, the tour booking company The Booking Company added this show among its other offerings.
      • In February 2025, this show was among the offerings for surveyors to choose from in the pre-Tony Awards survey by Broadway Across America. In addition, the post-2025 Tony Awards patron survey from June 2025 included this production among its offerings, which does provide some credence for a tour to take place in the near future.
      • On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, a national tour was announced that will visit select cities in fall 2026

  • Synopsis: Based on the Agatha Christie play and novel. A group of seven strangers find themselves snowed in at a remote countryside guesthouse and discover – to their horror – that a killer is in their midst! One by one, the suspicious characters reveal their sordid pasts. Can you solve the mystery for yourself?
  • Notes: This title first appeared in the Broadway Across America pre-Tony survey from around April 2023 under the section titled Shows in Development. Around the same time, the show appeared to be in talks with coming to Broadway–and made even further evident when the Broadway website went live. (The website is currently unavailable, putting in jeopardy a New York production.)
    However, in February 2025, the show once again appeared in the pre-Tony survey from Broadway Across America under the Plays section.
    Then, on September 4, 2025, the booking company Bond Theatrical added this show among its other offerings, with the status of “Taking Interest.” (A few days after, this status was changed so that now the company is booking the show for full weeks, split-week and single engagements.) The description states that the London show will be heading the US for the very first time. With its 75th anniversary taking place in 2027, this announcement suggests that a tour will most likely occur around the 26/27 or 27/28 season. For now, we project it will be part of the 26/27 season until more details emerge.

  • Synopsis: Three longtime friends. One ridiculously expensive painting. Is it art, or is it just the world’s priciest inside joke? As the three men debate the piece and what truly constitutes “art,” they uncover long-held grievances and tension points in their relationships. Can their friendship survive, or will one of them finally draw the line? It’s just 100 minutes of minimalist art, maximalist laughs, and a moving look at what we really see, and forgive, in the people we love.
  • Notes:
      • On November 10, 2025, The Booking Group added this comedic play among its other offerings, with week-only engagements being booked. According to the IBDB, the show toured over 20 locations between 1999 and 2000, which provides potential for a revival tour to take place in a future season. In addition, the John Gore Organization, which oversees Broadway Across America, is one of the lead producers for the revival, and could also continue producing the show should it tour. As the current revival comes to a close on December 21, we’ll be keeping a close eye in the event a tour is announced shortly thereafter.

      • On May 1, 2025, the booking company Broadway and Beyond Theatricals added this show on its website, stating that the national tour will begin in the 2026/2027 season and will be produced by Big League Productions. The tour is currently expected to run through the 27/28 season. It is expected that the tour will be non-union and will have week-long, split-week, and single engagements.
      • On Monday, September 29, 2025, the tour’s production company updated their website that now confirms this show will begin touring in the 26/27 season.

Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s worldwide phenomenon CATS is reimagined in a production that smashed records, won awards and left New York City purring. And now CATS: The Jellicle Ball ascends to Broadway in a kaleidoscope of glittering spectacle, iconic music and electrifying ballroom choreography that The New York Times calls “a lightning strike that sets joy free!”

      • On Wednesday, October 15, 2025, the booking company Bond Theatrical began representing this show. Any further development may hinge on the show’s response on Broadway and representation at the Tony Awards.

The show’s booking group, Broadway & Beyond Theatricals, currently has the show being part of the 2026/2027 season. The tour is currently expected to run through the 27/28 season.
      • On Monday, September 29, 2025, the tour’s production company updated their website that now confirms this show will begin touring in the 26/27 season.

  • Synopsis: Seymour is a down-on-his-luck florist with a crush on his co-worker Audrey. When he discovers a mysterious – and voracious – plant, suddenly Seymour and Audrey are thrust into an epic battle that will determine the fate of the entire human race.
  • Notes: Although found in the 2023 patron surveys from Broadway Across America and the American Theatre Guild, it appeared that the possibility for a tour fizzed out. However, on September 3, 2024, the booking company Bond Theatrical added this show to its offerings for full-week, split-week and single engagements. (As of June 25, 2025, Bond Theatrical is currently only taking interest for future touring possibilities, removing any specific engagements opportunities.) Whether a tour will pan out this time is yet to be seen.
    October 24, 2024 update: On October 23, Portland’s Merrill Auditorium distributed its annual Broadway show survey to gauge patron’s interest in select shows. Among those listed was Little Shop of Horrors. As this is a venue in a secondary market, and they did not include any shows that would have been categorized as a first-season tour of a show direct from Broadway in last year’s survey, it is further evidence that a tour for this show will most likely happen. (The only “new” show in last year’s survey was Mystic Pizza, which is not visiting Portland in the 24/25 season.)
    It should be noted that this venue primarily presents non-equity productions, which would either mean any forthcoming tour would launch as a non-equity tour in its first season, or that the venue is planning a season or two ahead, indicating that any tour would be equity for a season, then convert to non-equity in subsequent seasons.
    On Monday, December 15, 2025, Bond Theatrical removed this show from among its offerings, which casts doubt on whether a tour of the current production will take place in the near future.

    On May 27, 2025, the booking company Bond Theatrical added this show among its other offerings, stating that they are currently booking this show to venues for full-week engagements.
    On February 19, 2026, Bond Theatrical removed this show from among its offerings, thus diminishing the chances of this show touring in the 26/27 season. However, in the February 2026 pre-Tony Awards survey from Broadway Across America, which gauged patrons’ interests for potential shows in the 27/28 season, Mary Poppins was among the offerings. So any determination regarding a tour will need further time.

All grasping for the same dream, if only they can hold on to it.
  • Notes: On January 21, 2026, The Booking Group added this show among its offerings for full-week engagements. Given how successful this show has been financially, this may propel this show to consider touring. Its main drawback would be the shear size of the cast and crew.

      • On Wednesday, February 4, 2026 the production company Big League Productions added this show to its site with the tagline that a North American tour will start in 2027 as part of the 2027/2028 season. The previous tour, which was in conjunction with the show’s 10th anniversary, was last on tour in 2019.

  • Synopsis: Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new hit musical, based on the much-loved film of the same name.
  • Notes: Found on the 26/27 patron survey for IU Auditorium (see below), this show could be returning as part of its 10th anniversary from when it opened on Broadway. However, it hasn’t been featured on any other survey, which means it’s possible a tour is forthcoming, but not in the near future.

His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain’s fall.
  • Notes: On April 17, 2024, the booking group Broadway & Beyond Theatricals added the show to its list of offerings. Produced by Big League Theatricals, and most likely non-union, this production does not appear to be associated with the recent revival, and will only last one season.
    As of March 2025, a few venues have already announced engagements for this production, upgrading its status to Confirmed.

Organization: NAC Entertainment

Notes: In mid-February 2026, NAC Entertainment, which presents touring Broadway shows in seven venues in the New York and Pennsylvania, sent a survey to patrons among the various markets they oversee. Participants provided their level of interest for shows that could tour in the 27/28 season. These include shows that are part of the 25/26 Broadway season in New York. This was the first survey we’ve received from the organization since we began in 2018.

In this survey, there were no specific categories for each show; just a list and a scale from patrons to choose their interest level. As you’ll see, there are a range of shows from currently running to potentials.

Notes: In early February 2026, the John Gore Organization sent a survey to patrons among the various markets they oversee. Participants provided their level of interest for shows that could tour in the 27/28 season. These include shows that are part of the 25/26 Broadway season in New York. In addition, the survey presented a list of 41 “shows in development” that could tour or be presented on Broadway at some future date.

This iteration of their annual pre-Tony survey was also structured differently from previous years. In the past, we had a separate category for Revivals and Continuing Favorites. In this survey, it has been combined into a category called Revivals and Replays. In addition, one feature of these surveys that was different from previous surveys is how shows were classified based on the market. While a show may be classified as a New Musical in one market, it appeared in the Revivals and Replays category in another. This overlap will be displayed with a hashtag (#) text in the list below.

One final detail worth noting is that this survey was sent to some markets prior to their 2026/2027 season announcement; so those surveys may have contained shows that were already scheduled to come during the 2026/2027 season, which, if they were, would not qualify for certain categories in the 2027/2028 season.

A modified and shortened version of this survey will most likely be sent out following the Tony Awards in June. The breakdown of this survey is as follows :

One observation worth noting is the possible return of School of Rock, which could be executing a 10th anniversary tour. One other show worth noting is Stereophonic, which may be continuing the tour past the 25/26 season. What would be a first for the venue would be an engagement of Hamilton or Wicked as these productions are typically multi-week engagements and this venue has seldom hosted a week-long engagement, the last ones both being Les Misérables in 2020 and 2024.

  • Synopsis: A new musical about jazz legend and singular American icon Louis Armstrong. Told from the perspective of the women in Armstrong’s life, A Wonderful World charts Armstrong’s journey from the birth of jazz in his native New Orleans through his international stardom, featuring beloved songs recorded and made popular by him.
  • Notes: This show had a pre-Broadway tour in the 2023-2024 season. While on Broadway, it was only mildly successful, playing 120 performances before closing. However, the show did receive a Tony Award nomination.
    As of May 6, 2025, it appears that any possibility of a post-Broadway tour has gone as The Booking Group, the booking company associated with the show, removed it from its website, meaning it’s chances of touring are now unlikely.
    In addition, the post-2025 Tony Awards patron survey from the John Gore Organization, which also runs Broadway Across America, did not include this show among its offerings, thus diminishing the show’s chances for touring in the near future.
    On February 4, 2026, the marketing company Allied Touring removed this show from its website, which all but removes any current hope that this show will tour in the near future.

  • Synopsis: Inspired by the bizarre true story of Elmer McCurdy, an outlaw-turned-corpse-turned-celebrity. As Elmer’s body finds even more adventures in death than in life, the show explores fame, failure, and the meaning—or, utter meaninglessness—of legacy.
  • Notes: In February 2025, this show was among the offerings for surveyors to choose from in the pre-Tony Awards survey by Broadway Across America. The show was also among the offerings in the post-Tony Awards survey sent in June 2025. In March 2025, the booking company The Booking Group began representing this show for future touring possibilities.
    The Broadway production is produced by the John Gore Organization, which also runs Broadway Across America, and the Nederlander Organization, both of which oversee touring productions.
    On Friday, June 20, 2025, the show’s producers announced that it will close the Broadway production on June 29, 2025. No mention of a tour was announced at that time, which will diminish any possibility that the show will tour in the near future.

  • Synopsis: Based on a true story, the musical follows a group of young adults with autism and their families navigating change and preparing for a spring formal dance—a rite of passage that breaks open their daily routines in Columbus, Ohio.
  • Notes: In December 2023, a couple of the creatives associated with the show made an informal national tour announcement on the Uniquely Human podcast. However, that announcement was made in the show’s infancy, and plans for the show changed after a lukewarm reception and low attendance on Broadway.
    While it appears that a tour in the US isn’t out of the picture completely, recent news of the show’s transfer to the UK in 2025 might delay any domestic plans.

  • Synopsis: A new kind of musical, based on Sufjan Stevens’ 2005 concept album. A cast of virtuosic dancers, singers, and musicians lead audiences on a journey through the American heartland, featuring choreography by Tony Winner Justin Peck and live music ranging from folk to electronic.
  • Notes: A late-comer to the 23/24 Broadway season, the show received overall praise from New York critics and garnered four Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical. And among the show’s producers is among others, the John Gore Organization, which also runs Broadway Across America. With it being more of a dance show than a traditional musical, the novelty of the show may propel its uniqueness to curious theatregoers across the nation.
    October 24, 2024 update: On October 23, 2024 Portland’s Merrill Auditorium distributed its annual Broadway show survey to gauge patron’s interest in select shows. Among those listed was Illinoise. As this is a venue in a secondary market, and they did not include any shows that would have been categorized as a first-season tour of a show direct from Broadway in last year’s survey, it is further evidence that a tour for this show will most likely happen. (The only “new” show in last year’s survey was Mystic Pizza, which is not visiting Portland in the 24/25 season.)
    It should be noted that this venue primarily presents non-equity productions, which would either mean any forthcoming tour would launch as a non-equity tour in its first season, or that the venue is planning a season or two ahead, indicating that any tour would be equity for a season, then convert to non-equity in subsequent seasons.
    December 2024 update: The Booking Group, which was in charge of booking this show to venues, pulled Illinoise from its site, which may mean that any tour for this show will not happen at this time.

  • Synopsis: Inspired by the life of Tamara de Lempicka. Spanning decades of political and personal turmoil and told through a pop-infused score, Lempicka boldly explores the contradictions of a world in crisis, a woman ahead of her era, and an artist whose time has finally come.
  • Notes: Despite its inclusion on recent patron surveys for Broadway Across America and The American Theatre Guild, and a handful of Tony Award nominations, its premature closure (and no tour announcement at said closure) makes it appear that this show is unlikely to tour. However, much like A Strange Loop, it could very well pop up in a limited capacity.

    –On August 7, 2025, The Booking Group re-added this show to its portfolio, but, according to the show page, it appears that NAMCO, one of the Broadway producers, and not The Booking Group will be directly handling booking for any potential tour. While this doesn’t confirm a tour will take place, it does provide a glimmer of hope.
    –On August 15, 2025, The Booking Group (again) removed this this show from its portfolio, possibly also removing any future opportunities for this show to tour in the near future.

On June 10, 2025, the marketing company Bond Theatrical began representing this company, further enhancing this show’s chances to begin touring. However, its short run, mixed reviews, and lack of Tony wins does cast doubt on any touring opportunities.
    –On Wednesday, August 20, 2025, The Road Company removed this show from among its offerings, diminishing any current possibility of a tour taking place.

  • Synopsis: A musical adaptation of the hit TV show. Follow the process of mounting a new Broadway musical about Marilyn Monroe. Directed by five-time Tony Award-winner Susan Stroman with a score by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (SOME LIKE IT HOT, HAIRSPRAY).
  • Notes: On February 24, 2025, the Booking Group added this show to their portfolio, with engagements available for full weeks, split weeks, and single engagements. This show also appeared on the pre-Tony Awards survey from Broadway Across America, which was distributed in late-February 2025, as well as the post-Tony Awards survey in June 2025. However, with downward grosses, few Tony nominations and no wins, on Tuesday, June 10, 2025,  the show’s producers announced that it will close the Broadway production on June 22, 2025. No mention of a tour was announced at that time, possibly diminishing its chances to tour in the near future.

  • Notes: On June 18, 2024, the announcement of the show’s closure on Broadway was made. The notice also mentioned that talks were “underway for a national tour…” Whether this pans out remains to be seen at this point in time.
    The musical, which did appear on the recent surveys by Broadway Across America and the American Theatre Guild, is currently being made available to venues via Bond Theatrical for full weeks, split weeks and single engagements.

      • This show began to appear under the Shows in Development section of the annual surveys by Broadway Across America in 2023.
      • In addition, among the producers for the Broadway production include the John Gore Organization as well as the Nederlander Organization, which are involved in the execution of touring productions.
      • However, in November 2025, the show’s producers announced that the show will close in January 2026 and made no mention of a tour. While it’s possible a tour may still come to fruition, the show’s tepid response may prevent any future on the road.

  • Synopsis: At a high school in a one-stoplight town in Georgia, an English class is studying The Crucible. The students, however, are more preoccupied with navigating young love, sex ed, and a few school scandals than what’s in their syllabus. But as they delve into this literary classic, the class begins to question the play’s perspective, especially whether John Proctor is the hero they’ve been taught he is.
  • Notes: On May 7, 2025, the booking company Bond Theatrical added this show among its other offerings, stating that they are currently taking interest for any potential tour.
    One factor that could manifest the tour to take place in a future season is the fact that both the Nederlander and John Gore Organization, organizations associated with productions that tour, are among the show’s producers. In addition, the show was nominated for seven Tony Awards, including Best Play. A successful night could also provide enough cachet for a tour to launch in the near future.
    In addition, the post-2025 Tony Awards patron survey from the John Gore Organization, which also runs Broadway Across America, included this production among its offerings, which does provide some credence for a tour to take place in the near future.
    On Monday, December 15, 2025, Bond Theatrical removed this show from among its offerings, which casts doubt on whether a tour of the production will take place in the near future.

  • Synopsis: Peter Pan Goes Wrong follows the fictitious Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society as they present their yearly production, battling technical hitches, flying mishaps, and cast disputes as they attempt to present J.M Barrie’s much-loved tale. But will they ever make it to Neverland?
  • Notes: Although it closed in July 2023, and may have left the collective memories of theatregoers, this show was an option on the patron surveys for both Broadway Across America and The American Theatre Guild; which, depending on the results, may influence producers to eventually take this show on the road.

  • Synopsis: It’s 1931 Berlin, and inside the Kit Kat Klub, British nightclub singer Sally Bowles keeps the delirious party raging. But no amount of booze, music, and dancing can slow the ominous march of a changing Germany as it draws ever closer.
  • Notes: At this time, it does not appear that this production will tour in the 25/26 season. However, should it tour, the immersive experience this production provides might limit the tour to select cities for longer engagements.
    On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the show announced that it will close in October 2025. No announcement regarding the show’s future in a touring capacity was mentioned.

  • Synopsis: Momma Rose will do anything to make her young daughters Vaudeville stars. A tale of mothers and daughters, ambition and fame, and the lengths we’ll go in pursuit of the American dream, this musical features, “Everything’s Coming Up Roses” and “Let Me Entertain You.”
  • Notes: In February 2025, the booking company The Booking Group began representing this show for future touring possibilities. In addition, this show was among the offerings for surveyors to choose from in the pre- and post-Tony Awards survey by Broadway Across America, thus further enhancing the odds that a tour will take place. 
    The Broadway production is produced by the John Gore Organization, which also runs Broadway Across America, and the Nederlander Organization, both of which oversee touring productions.
    Despite walking away empty handed at the 2025 Tony Awards, the show’s popularity and reputation will most likely allow it to tour for the first time since 1989 in a direct-from-Broadway capacity. 
    However, on Thursday, July 10, 2025, the current company booking the tour (The Booking Group) removed this show from among its offerings, possibly also removing any current chance for the show to tour.
    On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, the show’s producers announced that it will close this production in August 2025, and made no mention of a tour, thus diminishing any current chances of this show touring in the near future.

  • Synopsis: With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and moving backward in time, this musical charts the turbulent relationship between three lifelong friends and traces milestones of their lives as they navigate success, show business, and unbreakable bonds.
  • Notes: A major financial success during the 23/24 Broadway season, this Sondheim revival was featured in both Broadway Across America’s and the American Theatre Guild’s patron survey for the 25/26 season.
    While there is no further evidence that the 2024 winner of the Best Revival at the Tony Awards will tour, it would be the first revival winner to not tour since 2007’s winner (and fellow Sondheim musical), Company. Should it tour, it very well could be a year-long and limited-engagement tour, much like with Parade and other recent revival winners. One of the appeals of the current production is its cast; so acquiring talent to match the current clout to draw patrons in might be one of the challenges facing a potential tour.

  • Synopsis: Movie star Norma Desmond yearns to return to the big screen. A struggling screenwriter may be her only hope, until their dangerous and captivating relationship leads to disaster.
  • Notes: This show appeared on the pre-Tony Award patron survey from Broadway Across America, which was distributed in late-February 2025, as well as the post-Tony Award survey from June 2025. However, outside of those, no other evidence suggests that this show will tour. If a tour did take place, it would probably visit theatres that would accommodate its technical aspects; otherwise the production would need to be modified. Should a tour not happen, it will mean back-to-back years without the Tony winner for Best Revival of a Musical touring (following Merrily We Roll Along).

  • Notes: In December 2023, a couple of the creatives associated with the show made an informal national tour announcement on the Uniquely Human podcast. However, that announcement was made in the show’s infancy, and plans for the show changed after a lukewarm reception and low attendance on Broadway.
    While it appears that a tour in the US isn’t out of the picture completely, recent news of the show’s transfer to the UK in 2025 might delay any domestic plans.

  • Synopsis: A new kind of musical, based on Sufjan Stevens’ 2005 concept album. A cast of virtuosic dancers, singers, and musicians lead audiences on a journey through the American heartland, featuring choreography by Tony Winner Justin Peck and live music ranging from folk to electronic.
  • Notes: A late-comer to the 23/24 Broadway season, the show received overall praise from New York critics and garnered four Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical. And among the show’s producers is among others, the John Gore Organization, which also runs Broadway Across America. With it being more of a dance show than a traditional musical, the novelty of the show may propel its uniqueness to curious theatregoers across the nation.
    October 24, 2024 update: On October 23, 2024 Portland’s Merrill Auditorium distributed its annual Broadway show survey to gauge patron’s interest in select shows. Among those listed was Illinoise. As this is a venue in a secondary market, and they did not include any shows that would have been categorized as a first-season tour of a show direct from Broadway in last year’s survey, it is further evidence that a tour for this show will most likely happen. (The only “new” show in last year’s survey was Mystic Pizza, which is not visiting Portland in the 24/25 season.)
    It should be noted that this venue primarily presents non-equity productions, which would either mean any forthcoming tour would launch as a non-equity tour in its first season, or that the venue is planning a season or two ahead, indicating that any tour would be equity for a season, then convert to non-equity in subsequent seasons.
    December 2024 update: The Booking Group, which was in charge of booking this show to venues, pulled Illinoise from its site, which may mean that any tour for this show will not happen at this time.

With it being more of a dance show than a traditional musical, the novelty of the show may propel its uniqueness to curious theatregoers across the nation.
    October 24, 2024 update: On October 23, 2024 Portland’s Merrill Auditorium distributed its annual Broadway show survey to gauge patron’s interest in select shows. Among those listed was Illinoise. As this is a venue in a secondary market, and they did not include any shows that would have been categorized as a first-season tour of a show direct from Broadway in last year’s survey, it is further evidence that a tour for this show will most likely happen. (The only “new” show in last year’s survey was Mystic Pizza, which is not visiting Portland in the 24/25 season.)
    It should be noted that this venue primarily presents non-equity productions, which would either mean any forthcoming tour would launch as a non-equity tour in its first season, or that the venue is planning a season or two ahead, indicating that any tour would be equity for a season, then convert to non-equity in subsequent seasons.

    On the June 19, 2024 episode of the Freakonomics podcast, John Johnson, one of the show’s producers, intimated that a national tour was in the works. Although Broadway plays rarely tour, this play is an exception. However, possibly its biggest hurdle is the runtime, which is over three hours. So, if the show tours in its current format, it may only play limited engagements in select cities.

    Then, on September 4, 2025, the booking company Bond Theatrical added this show among its other offerings, with the status of “Taking Interest.” (A few days after, this status was changed so that now the company is booking the show for full weeks, split-week and single engagements.) The description states that the London show will be heading the US for the very first time. With its 75th anniversary taking place in 2027, this announcement suggests that a tour will most likely occur around the 26/27 or 27/28 season.   • Synopsis: With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and moving backward in time, this musical charts the turbulent relationship between three lifelong friends and traces milestones of their lives as they navigate success, show business, and unbreakable bonds.
  • Notes: A major financial success during the 23/24 Broadway season, this Sondheim revival was featured in both Broadway Across America’s and the American Theatre Guild’s patron survey for the 25/26 season.
    While there is no further evidence that the 2024 winner of the Best Revival at the Tony Awards will tour, it would be the first revival winner to not tour since 2007’s winner (and fellow Sondheim musical), Company. Should it tour, it very well could be a year-long and limited-engagement tour, much like with Parade and other recent revival winners. One of the appeals of the current production is its cast; so acquiring talent to match the current clout to draw patrons in might be one of the challenges facing a potential tour.

  • Synopsis: Featuring a book and score by Meredith Willson, Miracle on 34th Street tells the story of single mother, Doris Walker, who doesn’t want her six-year-old Susan’s head filled with romantic notions. Their neighbor, Fred Gailey, tries to woo Doris by charming Susan and taking her to see Santa Claus at Macy’s, where Doris works. Doris is not impressed, but when it turns out that Macy’s Santa may, in fact, be the real Kris Kringle, a wave of love spreads across New York City that melts even the most cynical hearts.
  • Notes: First broken by Broadway News on December 16, 2024, this revival of Willson’s musical (known originally as Here Lies Love) is expecting to begin touring for the holiday season in 2025.

  • Synopsis: Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot retells the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, featuring ridiculous men in tight pants – not to mention cows, killer rabbits, and French people.
  • Notes: On March 5, 2024, the producers announced the show will end its limited run on Broadway and begin a National Tour in September 2025. No additional information is known at this time..

  • Synopsis: Movie star Norma Desmond yearns to return to the big screen. A struggling screenwriter may be her only hope, until their dangerous and captivating relationship leads to disaster.
  • Notes: This show appeared on the pre-Tony Award patron survey from Broadway Across America, which was distributed in late-February 2025, as well as the post-Tony Award survey from June 2025. However, outside of those, no other evidence suggests that this show will tour. If a tour did take place, it would probably visit theatres that would accommodate its technical aspects; otherwise the production would need to be modified. Should a tour not happen, it will mean back-to-back years without the Tony winner for Best Revival of a Musical touring (following Merrily We Roll Along).

  • Synopsis: Former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, Frank Farmer, is hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker. Each expects to be in charge – what they don’t expect is to fall in love.
  • Notes: On July 25, 2025, the booking company Bond Theatrical added this show among its other offerings, stating that they are booking this show for full weeks, split weeks and single engagements. This production, which is produced by Crossroads Live, appears to be the version that is currently on tour in the UK.

  • Synopsis: The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band that he vows to organize – this, even though he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain’s fall.
  • Notes: On April 17, 2024, the booking group Broadway & Beyond Theatricals added the show to its list of offerings. Produced by Big League Theatricals, and most likely non-union, this production does not appear to be associated with the recent revival, and will only last one season.
    As of March 2025, a few venues have already announced engagements for this production, upgrading its status to Confirmed.

  • Synopsis: In this timeless romance, a young soprano becomes the obsession of a disfigured musical genius who lives beneath the Paris Opera House.
  • Notes: Surveys from Broadway Across America and American Theatre Guild have included this show among its offerings. With the closing of Jesus Christ Superstar, Andrew Lloyd Webber doesn’t have a running show on Broadway or on tour for the first time since 1979. While this will change once Sunset Boulevard hits Broadway this fall, could we see the Phantom make his return on tour?
    In September 2024, it appeared that any chance that the show will return to tour in the 25/26 was all but gone as a source close to the show confirmed that there are no plans for a US tour at this time.
    However, on November 1, 2024, a new multi-year, North American tour was announced, launching in Baltimore, MD in November 2025. The tour, which last ran in early 2020, is expected to run for multi-week engagements, much like the previous tour.

  • Synopsis: Based on The Who’s iconic 1969 concept album and subsequent 1975 film adaptation, TOMMY is the story of a boy who is traumatized into catatonia. As an adolescent, he discovers a natural knack for pinball and becomes an international pinball superstar.
  • Notes: On June 25, 2024, the producers announced that the Broadway production would close and a National Tour would launch from Providence, RI.
    As its producers include the Independent Presenters Network, Nederlander Presentations and the John Gore Organization, expect the show to visit venues that are associated with those organization. 
    On March 7, 2025, the show’s website was updated to indicate that the show will now begin touring in fall 2026. As such, the show’s status was updated to Projected.

  • Synopsis: A waitress and expert pie maker, Jenna, dreams of a way out of her small town and loveless marriage. A baking contest and the town’s new doctor may offer her a chance at a fresh start, but Jenna must summon the courage to rebuild her own life.   • Notes: In spring 2023, the John Gore Organization, which oversees Broadway Across America, sent a survey to patrons among the various markets they manage. This survey was to gauge interest in a number of shows, including a revival of Waitress. 
    On May 27, 2025, the booking company The Booking Group added this show among its other offerings, stating that they are currently offering this show to venues for split-week and single engagements.

Notes: Following the Tony Awards ceremony in June 2025, the John Gore Organization sent a survey to patrons among the various markets they oversee. Participants provided their level of interest for shows that could tour in the 26/27 season. These include shows that are part of the 24/25 Broadway season in New York.
