“Xanadu” To Launch National Tour This Fall

Xanadu

The hilarious roller-skating musical adventure, hailed as “the most fun you’ll have on Broadway” (The New Yorker), returns in a national tour with some fierce new twists!

This production will feature two participants from RuPaul’s Drag Race: Joshua Allan Eads (Ginger Minj) and Jerick Hoffer (Jinkx Monsoon). Eads, who was runner-up on season seven, went on to season two of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars. Hoffer won the fifth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Both actors will play sisters of leading lady Kira.

Xanadu will be visiting the following cities starting this Fall, and continuing throughout the 2019/2020 season: Cincinnati, Syracuse, Boston, Philadelphia, Detroit, Washington, D.C., Indianapolis, Buffalo, Cleveland, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, Charlotte and San Francisco. Specific dates, additional cities and casting will be announced at a later date.

Xanadu follows the beautiful Greek muse Kira, as she journeys from the heavens of Mount Olympus to Venice Beach, circa 1980, on a quest to inspire scrappy artist-on-the-rise Sonny, to achieve the greatest artistic creation of all time – the first ROLLER DISCO! But when Kira stumbles into forbidden love with Sonny, a mere mortal, her salty sisters take matters into their own hands.

Based on the 1980 cult film starring Olivia Newton-John, the Tony Award®-nominated musical from 2007 features a book by Douglas Carter Beane and an original hit score by pop-rock legends Jeff Lynne (Electric Light Orchestra) and John Farrar. The previous tour took place in between 2009 and 2010.
