
Announced in conjunction with Blumenthal Performing Arts’ 2022/2023 season announcement was the news that MJ the Musical will begin touring.
Producers Lia Vollack Productions, The Michael Jackson Estate and Broadway in Chicago have also announced that MJ will run technical rehearsals and premiere at Broadway In Chicago’s James M. Nederlander Theatre (July 15–September 10, 2023.).
MJ will then perform at Charlotte’s Belk Theater from September 27–October 8, 2023 as part of the Blumenthal Performing Arts’ PNC Broadway Lights Series. Additional venues and casting are expected to take place in the coming months.
The musical’s producer, Lia Vollack, commented about today’s announcement, “We are thrilled by the Broadway response to MJ, and that we are already deep in preparations to bring this exhilarating show to Chicago and across the United States. Chicago is a premier theater and music destination, and we are excited to be able to begin this journey in one of the Nederlander Organization’s most beautiful venues.”
