Brand New North American Tour of ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ to Tech in San Antonio

The Tobin Center is pleased to be hosting the technical rehearsals of the new, licensed North American tour of Dear Evan Hansen, the Tony and Grammy-winning Best Musical sensation.

“We’re thrilled to host Dear Evan Hansen for their technical rehearsals! It’s incredibly exciting to be the first stop on their new tour and to share this fantastic production with our audience,” said Michael Fresher, Tobin Center President and CEO.

Technical rehearsals is a time when a show sets up residence at a theater, typically for a few weeks or longer, to run through all aspects of a production — from lighting and sound, to stage directions and costumes — before officially launching a tour.

The tour is expected to run more than 30 weeks in the 2024–2025 season, beginning in San Antonio with performances on September 6 -7, before playing in cities as Houston, Dallas and St. Paul. Click here for the latest tour route.

The original tour of Dear Evan Hansen ran from 2018-2023 and played to over 100 engagements across the United States and Canada.

Evan Hansen is a high school student who always feels like he’s on the outside looking in. Evan finally gets what so many of us are searching for—the chance to finally fit in. What follows is a poignant, funny, and powerful musical about how even though it can be hard, we can find each other—and ourselves—along the way.

Including some of the most iconic musical theatre songs from the last decade, including “You Will Be Found,” “Waving Through A Window,” and “For Forever,” Dear Evan Hansen features an uplifting score by the Tony ®, Grammy®, and Oscar® winning team behind The Greatest Showman, La La Land, and “Only Murders in the Building” Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and a book by Tony Award-winner Steven Levenson.
