Disney Theatrical Productions announced today that a newly configured North American tour of Aladdin is scheduled to launch in fall 2021, allowing the hit Broadway musical to entertain new audiences in cities and venues which were not previously able to accommodate the production.

Currently playing in Durham, the Aladdin North American tour will play 11 additional engagements (Austin, Baltimore, East Lansing, Fort Lauderdale, Greenville, Kansas City, Memphis, Orlando, Providence, San Antonio and Tampa) before playing its final performance on April 26, 2020 at the Music Hall in Kansas City, Missouri.

Information concerning engagement dates, venues, and casting for the tour will be announced at a later date.

The cast of the Aladdin tour includes Jonah Ho‘okano (Aladdin), Kaena Kekoa (Jasmine), Korie Lee Blossey (Genie), Jonathan Weir (Jafar), Reggie De Leon (Iago), Zach Bencal (Babkak), Jerald Vincent (Sultan), Ben Chavez (Omar) and Colt Prattes (Kassim).

Orlando native Michael James Scott, who has previously played Genie on Broadway, in London’s West End, on the North American tour and in Australia, where he originated the part and won a Helpmann Award (the Australian version of The Tony Award), will come home to play the iconic role in Orlando. Korie Lee Blossey, the tour’s current Genie, will return to the role following the Orlando engagement.

Aladdin, the hit musical based on the Academy Award®-winning animated film, opened on Broadway at the New Amsterdam Theatre to critical acclaim on March 20, 2014 and quickly established itself as one of the biggest new blockbusters in recent years, breaking 14 New Amsterdam Theatre house records; worldwide it has welcomed more than 10 million people and grossed over $1 billion. Its global footprint includes productions in Tokyo, Germany and on tour across North America.

Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, under the direction of Thomas Schumacher, the show features music by Tony Award and eight-time Oscar® winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Newsies, Sister Act), lyrics by two-time Oscar winner Howard Ashman (Beauty and the BeastThe Little Mermaid), three-time Tony Award and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice (EvitaAida) and four-time Tony Award nominee Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer), with a book by Beguelin, and is directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon).

Aladdin, adapted from the Academy Award®-winning animated Disney film and centuries-old folktales including “One Thousand and One Nights,” is brought to fresh theatrical life in this bold new musical.  Aladdin’s journey sweeps audiences into an exotic world of daring adventure, classic comedy and timeless romance.  This new production features a full score, including the five cherished songs from the Academy Award-winning soundtrack and more written especially for the stage.
