Hadestown National Tour Delayed

News of the delay comes as The Bushnell (Hartford, CT) has modified its 2020/2021 season, including the cancellation of their engagement of Wicked (September 9-27, 2020).

According to their website and a post on the venue’s Instagram page, the National Tour of Hadestown has been delayed. The production was set to launch from Proctors Theatre in Schenectady, NY in mid-October. Now, however, the start of the tour may follow the pattern of recently-delayed Ain’t Too Proud and To Kill A Mockingbird by beginning in late-2020 or early-2021.

At this time, no other venues presenting the show have announced any modifications to their engagements. Be sure to keep up to date with the changes on our Log. Below is a list of the pre-2021 stops for the show that may be affected by the delay:

Welcome to Hadestown, where a song can change your fate. Winner of eight 2019 Tony Awards® and the 2020 Grammy® Award for Best Musical Theater Album, this acclaimed new musical by celebrated singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and innovative director Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) is a love story for today… and always.

Hadestown intertwines two mythic tales — that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone — as it invites you on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Mitchell’s beguiling melodies and Chavkin’s poetic imagination pit industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love. Performed by a vibrant ensemble of actors, dancers and singers, Hadestown is a haunting and hopeful theatrical experience that grabs you and never lets go.
